How We Stay at the Forefront of Technology—And Why It Benefits You

At Moseys, we’ve always been committed to embracing the latest technologies. Keeping up with these evolutions means having the most advanced machinery at our disposal, of course, but it also means adopting digital tools to streamline our operational processes behind the scenes.

Two examples of how we put digital technologies to work in our California machine shop are paperless quoting and quality management software. Read on to discover how we’ve used new technologies to future-proof our production machining services—all with the goal of passing the benefits along to you.

Putting Digital Technology to Work for Our Customers

While the latest CNC machinery helps us to physically manufacture parts and assemblies to the most exacting specifications, paperless quoting and quality management systems grant us improved speed, accuracy, quality, customer service, and documentation capabilities.

1. Paperless quoting

Before transitioning to paperless quoting, we—like most precision machine shops—used a combination of Excel spreadsheets and email. This manual process was time-consuming, decentralized, and subject to human error, especially for new team members who were unfamiliar with our spreadsheets or anyone who wasn’t a wizard with Excel.

That all changed when we adopted Paperless Parts. Their software streamlined and packaged our previous process into an automated one based on our in-house formulas—all without requiring us to lift a finger.

Thanks to this system, we’re now able to issue quotes and track jobs with the click of a button. The software also stores each customer’s quote and updated job information, which lets us provide them with professional and consistent documentation during and after production. Paperless Parts safeguards this data so that it’s always accessible and protected.

In addition to allowing us to provide excellent customer service, having our data centralized simplifies training. Before, for instance, if someone were to leave the organization, we would have to dedicate countless hours to training their successor on our complex, Excel-based system. Now, succession is as simple as a new team member learning the basics of Paperless Parts—the technology does the rest.

2. Quality management systems

Thanks to ProShop’s digital management ecosystem (DME), Moseys has been able to put high-quality data back into the hands of our customers, no matter their size. This technology makes custom reports, prints, and other project data immediately accessible. With this level of traceability, we’re able to answer product questions quickly—even well after production.

For example, if a customer has a question about a part six months after they’ve received it, there’s no need for us to search high and low in our file cabinets. Similarly, once we’ve pulled the right setup info or programming details from the ProShop database, there’s no risk that it’ll be covered in stains or oil. Digital technology guarantees the integrity of our customers’ data.

This ecosystem also helps us with labor reporting and costing data management. If, for example, we need to reprice a specific piece due to a sudden increase in raw materials costs, we simply select the job (backed up by ProShop) and change that one parameter. Efficiencies like these allow us to be more transparent about costs so you can plan accordingly.

Finally, the 360 visibility and security offered by these technologies supports our ability to comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. ProShop’s DME has built-in ITAR and CMMC features that help us build trust and confidence with aerospace and defense customers.

technologyMoseys Is Keeping Up with the Innovations of Tomorrow

Paperless Parts and ProShop are just some of the ways that we use digital technologies to keep our CNC machining services on the cutting edge. These tools future-proof our operations so that we can continue delivering superior customer service.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re currently working to incorporate more advanced technologies into our processes, such as:

  • Real-time machine monitoring and predictive maintenance
  • Internal AI to automate quoting and part number extraction

With over 50 years of experience in precision machining services, the expert team at our California machine shop knows exactly how to make the latest technologies work for you, no matter your industry, project materials, or run size.
